An ancient city of ruins, grand temples at every turn, larger than life rocks, starkly contrasting greenery, and the churning waters of the Tungabhadra River, Hampi is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments in northern Karnataka, India.
What makes Hampi so special and adventurous?
This place is very much on the backpacker trail in India. Perhaps it is the surreal boulder strewn landscape, interspersed by bright emerald paddy fields, the magical stories of myths and legends of gods and goddesses or the surrounding countryside that is almost frozen in time. Perhaps it's a combination of all these things that make Hampi so special.
